Breathalyzer Process

YouTube Preview Image

A DUI offender is arrested for DUI. The DUI offender is taken to the police station. The DUI booking officer records all the information of the DUI offender. Once the booking is over, the police will then offer the DUI offender the option to take the DUI breathalyzer. A DUI offender has the right to refuse the DUI breathalyzer. The DUI offender should choose to exercise his or her right to refuse to take the DUI breathalyzer.

If a DUI offender decides to refuse the DUI breathalyzer, the officer will give the DUI offender a form to sign to indicate the refusal of a DUI breathalyzer. If the DUI offender chooses to take the DUI breathalyzer, then the DUI offender is usually brought to a separate room for the DUI breathalyzer. The DUI breathalyzer machine needs to stay in one place and it is usually in a separate room at the police station. Before taking the DUI breathalyzer, the DUI offender will be asked to sign the DUI implied consent form. Before the DUI breathalyzer test can begin, the DUI certified operator needs to enter a lot of the DUI offender’s information into the DUI breathalyzer machine.

Entering the DUI offender’s information into the DUI breathalyzer machine usually takes about 15-20 minutes. Once the DUI breathalyzer machine is ready, the DUI offender will be asked to blow two breath samples into the DUI breathalyzer machine. The DUI offender needs to blow into the DUI breathalyzer machine for about 5 seconds for each sample. If the DUI offender fails to blow hard enough into the DUI breathalyzer machine or refuses to finish the DUI breathalyzer test, the police will rule that the DUI offender refused the breathalyzer. If the DUI offender is able to finish the test, the DUI breathalyzer machine will print out the results.
