MA Licensed Doctor or Physician

Massachusetts Criminal Problem for a Doctor or Physician

If you are a licensed doctor charged with a crime you have an additional concern in your criminal case.  Aside from the criminal charges, you need to think about your license to practice medicine.  As a doctor, you have a duty to disclose criminal charges even if it does not result in a conviction.  Failure to disclose criminal charges could lead to you being disciplined.

In many situations the Board of Registration in Medicine will not wait until your criminal case is resolved.  It is important that you know that any statement that you make to the board can be used against you in the court of law.  Massachusetts General Law, chapter 221, section 26 requires the clerk of a court to send information about any conviction to the Board of Registration of Medicine within one week of the end of the case.

The Board of Registration of Medicine will find out about your criminal case.  It is important that you create a good strategy to deal with your criminal charges and with the board of Registration of Medicine.
