MA Sex Offender Level Classification
If you are a sex offender in Massachusetts, the MA Sex Offender Registry Board will classify you. There are three different sex offender levels that you can be classified as. Level 1 being the least serious and level three being the most serious. Massachusetts General Laws, chapter 6, section 178 K defines the levels as follows:
- MA Level One Sex Offender: the risk of re-offense is low and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is not such that the public safety interest is served by public availability.
- MA Level Two Sex Offender: the risk of re-offense is moderate and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a public safety interest is served by public availability of registration information.
- MA Level Three Sex Offender: The risk of re-offense is high and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a substantial public safety interest is served by active dissemination.
