In Massachusetts if you are convicted of certain sex offenses you must register as a sex offender. Here is an incomplete list of some MA sex crimes that would trigger the sex offender registry requirement.
- Indecent assault and battery on a child under 14
- Indecent assault and battery on mentally retarded person
- Indecent assault and battery on person 14 or over
- Rape
- Rape of child under 16 with force
- Rape and abuse of a child
- Assault with intent to commit rape
- Assault of a child under 16 with intent to commit rape
- Kidnapping of child under 16
- Enticing a person for prostitution or sexual intercourse
- Drugging persons for purpose of sexual intercourse
- Inducing minor in prostitution
- Living off of, or sharing earnings of, a minor prostitute
- Second and subsequent adjudication or conviction for open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior
- Dissemination of matter to a minor that is harmful to a minor
- Possession of child pornography
- Incestuous intercourse or marriage
- Exhibiting a child in state of nudity
- Dissemination of visual material of child in state of nudity or sexual conduct
- Unnatural and lascivious act with a child under 16
- Attempt to commit any of the above offenses
